3 Big Signs Your BMW Needs a Brake Repair

Your BMW braking system is very efficient and allows you full control over your speed. This system depends on regular maintenance to keep it operating efficiently. Parts can wear out or get damaged, and you'll need a brake repair. As your BMW dealer, we can fix any issue with your brakes. We'd like to tell you some of the big warning signs that your brakes could be in trouble. Old Brake Fluid Brake fluid is essential for your braking system, as it provides the hydraulic power that allows the system to operate. This fluid gradually becomes less effective and needs to be replaced regularly. The fluid is also subject to heat and pressure, which gradually take their toll. Brake fluid that isn't replaced can even cause your braking system to fail. more The older fluid becomes less resistant to heat. The heat generated when you apply the brakes can cause the fluid to overheat and even boil. Overheating brake fluid produces a strong chemical smell, and you'll feel your brakes become less responsive. If the brake fluid boils, it will lose its hydraulic power. We can flush the braking system and fill it with new fluid to fix the problem. Damaged Brake Booster The braking system is highly pressurized. This pressure is essential to force your car to stop. To overcome the resistance produced by the fluid, your braking system has a brake booster attached to it. The booster activates when you step on the brakes and generates 10x human strength to overcome the pressure in the system. The booster uses a vacuum system to generate this power. If the booster is damaged or the vacuum is compromised, you immediately lose its support. You can feel a failure in the booster when you step on the brakes, and the pedal barely moves. We'll test your braking system and repair or replace a damaged booster to fix this problem. Air in the Brake Hoses Your braking system is a closed one to generate the required pressure. Over time, air can find its way into even this sealed system. If air gets into the hose or lines, it will form an air bubble. One or more bubbles in the system will block the flow of brake fluid. If the brake fluid can't move freely through the system, one or more of your brakes won't work. Air in the hoses can cause your car to pull to one side when you brake. We can fix this problem by bleeding the brakes to remove the air, then refilling the brake fluid. Call us today at BMW of Madison, and we can fix your brake problem.

Does Your BMW Need a Transmission Repair?

Your BMW's transmission is tough and built to last. It does, however, require regular services to keep it working efficiently. Parts can become damaged or wear out, which poses problems for the transmission. If you're in the area of Madison, WI, your BMW dealer can fix that transmission problem for you. These are a few signs that you may need a transmission repair. Signs You Need a Transmission Repair at Your BMW Dealer Your Transmission Is Slipping When your transmission computer shifts the gears, your car should remain in that gear until the computer shifts it again. Transmission slipping is a situation where your gears will unexpectedly shift without warning. An automatic transmission will usually shift back to the previous gear, and this could result in your car suddenly shifting from drive to park. Slipping gears can easily result in an accident, particularly if you're driving at high speed. If this happens, we advise pulling over ASAP and calling our service department. Our highly-trained technicians will examine your transmission and find and fix the cause of the problem. more Rough Shifting You shouldn't feel anything when your transmission shifts gears. A BMW transmission is designed to smoothly transition from gear to gear. If you feel a lurch or jerk when the gears shift, or you hear clunking or other strange sounds, you have a transmission problem. There are several possible causes for this, but the most common is a lack of transmission fluid. Transmission fluid has several functions, one of which is to provide the hydraulic power that allows your gears to shift. A lack of transmission fluid reduces this power and makes it more difficult for your gears to move. In addition, transmission fluid isn't consumed as it works. You can only have low transmission fluid if there's a leak. We'll examine the transmission to find the leak, and new fluid should fix the rough shifting. Check Engine Light The check engine light comes on in response to any problem in your engine. It's connected to a network of sensors that spread throughout your engine. These sensors will send a warning to your car's computer if they detect a problem with the component they're attached to. When this happens, your computer will log the error, and the light will come on. This light also illuminates due to problems in the transmission. Your engine and transmission are linked and work together to enable your car to move. If your transmission isn't working correctly, your engine will work harder to try and compensate. This extra effort can cause wear and tear on your engine. We'll use our diagnostic system to find the problem and repair it. Transmission problems can become costly if they're not repaired. See Why Drivers Love the 2022 BMW X2

SUVs are getting more and more popular because they are convenient, spacious, and safe. If you're looking for a subcompact option, you should book a test drive at your local dealership. We can show you what the 2022 BMW X2, one of the top crossover SUVs currently available, has to offer. Basics About the 2022 BMW X2 The BMW X2 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV. It has been on the market since 2018. Like the other even-numbered BMW models, it is sportier than the odd-numbered cars, which tend to be more practical. With its stylish sloped roof and easy handling, the X2 is a great option for couples and families in the city and in the suburbs. It can comfortably seat five people, so a small family will have more than enough room in this SUV. There are currently three trim levels available: the sDrive 28i, which features a front-wheel drive, the xDrive 28i, which features an all-wheel drive, and the M35i. The latter option, which is the most exclusive, is especially interesting for performance-oriented drivers because it comes with a 302-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This makes it a competitive, focused vehicle that is superior to its competitors. more New and Unique Features Although every X2 is a joy to ride, drivers are especially happy with the M35i because it can go from zero to 60 in 4.6 seconds. In contrast, some of its competitors are more than a second slower. Every X2 comes with a set of safety features designed to keep the driver and the passengers protected, no matter the conditions of the road. Standard features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and a lane-departure warning. If you're looking for a vehicle that can keep your family entertained, the X2 could be a good choice because it comes with an 8.8-inch infotainment screen. This can be used as a touchscreen, but there is also a controller knob for those who prefer not to touch their display. Apple CarPlay connectivity and a seven-speaker audio system are included. Drivers who would like even better audio quality can upgrade to a Harman/Kardon premium sound system. New for 2022 Because the vehicle was already sleek and modern in 2021, there haven't been many changes to the 2022 version. However, some of the add-on options and accessories have changed. For example, the Extended Shadowline package replaces some of the other trim options from previous generations. Fuel Efficiency You'll be surprised by the fuel efficiency of this car. Most configurations can get 27 mpg combined, which beats the average American car. If you drive on the highway, you can expect an even higher efficiency of around 32 mpg. With the X2, the BMW manufacturers have released a small and efficient subcompact luxury crossover SUV that ticks all the boxes. Because there are various trim levels and add-on options available, you'll be able to configure your car to your liking. Get in touch with us at BMW of Madison today to speak to an expert.
